I’ve been using the Sony FE 90 mm G OSS macro lens as my go-to underwater macro photography lens since late 2018. I really enjoy using it – with the exception of poor autofocus in low light underwater using the Sony A7rIII, which I rant about in great detail here. I just watched an excellent video review that discusses the technical aspects of the lens (i.e. sharpness, vignetting, distortion) by Christopher Frost, which I’ve embedded here:
He ends up thinking “the Sony 90 mm is just about the perfect macro lens”, which is a great endorsement.
I haven’t actually used the lens much above water (I need to get onto that!), with the exception of a quick session with the quokkas on Rottnest Island in Western Australia. They are so cute.
